Synology DiskStation DS418 – 4-Bay NAS Enclosure for Home & Office

Designed for home and office, the Synology DiskStation DS418 4-Bay NAS Enclosure enables file sharing and synchronization across devices and cloud storage. Equipped with four drive bays for 3.5″ SATA hard drives, 2.5″ SATA hard drives, and SSDs, it allows sharing among up to 2048 user accounts and 200 concurrent connections.

The DS418 runs on Synology’s DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS, simplifying NAS management. Powered by a 1.4 GHz Realtek RTD1296 Quad-Core CPU and 2GB DDR4 RAM, it achieves sequential read speeds of up to 226 MB/s and write speeds of up to 170 MB/s. A dedicated hardware transcoding engine enables on-the-fly 4K H.265 video transcoding. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports support link aggregation and failover, while two USB 3.0 ports facilitate connection to Windows or Mac systems. The DS418 also features integrated 4K multimedia server capabilities for playing Ultra HD videos on various devices.

The enclosure supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, Synology Hybrid RAID, and Basic RAID for data redundancy and performance. For non-RAID setups, JBOD is available. Engineered for energy efficiency, the DS418 includes two 92 x 92mm fans and a noise dampening design (20.9 dB(A)) for quiet operation, along with scheduled power cycles and hard drive hibernation to minimize power consumption. Operating on 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz, it comes with an accessory pack, 90W AC power adapter, power cord, and two RJ45 LAN cables, all backed by a 2-year limited warranty.
